I was wondering about why they made it such a point to linger on this shot when Crowley was in the bookshop.
Right before this happened, Crowley is rushing about the bookshop, calling for Aziraphale, but he gets no response. He then gets blasted in the chest with a jet of water so hard that he’s actually knocked to the ground. Look how long the camera lingers on him on the ground with his hand hovering over his heart. He starts shouting, angry that someone has killed his best friend.
Conclusion: Crowley getting struck in the chest with water is a physical illustration of the intensity of his grief over losing Aziraphale. (Particularly interesting to consider in light of the fact that Aziraphale is normally associated with water - the counterpart of Crowley’s demonic nature which is always depicted by fire.)
Now it makes more sense to see Crowley-as-Aziraphale lingering so long outside the bookshop the first time he visits it after Armageddon. He’s mentally bracing himself to enter the bookshop again because this is what happened the last time he was there.
